Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine in January compared the 1999 median real estate sales prices and the projected sales prices for 2010 in 300 US cities. Orlando, Florida, was in the top five, with an appreciation rate of 72 percent-more than 7 percent annually. Based on research from DRI/McGraw-Hill, the magazine estimated that the median sales price for real estate in Orlando will be $182,782 in 2010. That compares with $106,256 in 1999!
